Technical Information on STONIKO Stones
Tech info & Production process
Introduction
Soft Stone /Flexible Soft Stone is a revolutionary building material engineered to replicate the elegance of natural stone while offering superior flexibility, reduced weight, and simplified installation. Unlike traditional stone (e.g., granite, marble, slate), which is rigid, heavy, and labor-intensive to install, our flexible soft stone is designed for modern construction demands, enabling faster project completion and greater design freedom.

Sizes of our stones
We at our factory mainly produce 2 different sizes ; 600*1200mm(2*4’) or 1200*3000mm(4*10’)
The thickness varies according to the type of stone and it ranges from 2 to 9 mm(1/16’’ inch to ¼ ‘’)
Material composition & manufacturing
Our flexible stone is a composite material made from:
For Aesthetic texture, durability – A Crushed natural stone (Quartz, limestone, etc.) | 55% |
For Binder & flexibility - 100% Recycled Polymer resin (*PU/PVC-based) | 35% |
For Tensile strength & crack resistance - Fiber reinforcement (Glass/cellulose fibers) 7% |
For Weatherproofing, safety & flexibility - Additives (UV stabilizers, fire retardants, plasticizers) 3% |

Performance Advantages vs. Traditional Stone
Weight & Structural Load
STONIKO Stones 50–60% lighter than natural stone (e.g., 10 kg/m² vs. 25–40 kg/m² for granite).
It Reduces structural reinforcement needs in buildings.
Traditional Stone - Heavy, requiring strong substructures.
Flexibility & Crack Resistance
STONIKO Stones Can bend to 30 cm radius without damage (ideal for curved walls, columns).
Traditional Stone: Brittle; prone to cracking under stress or seismic activity.
Installation inefficiency
STONIKO Stones
-
Cut with a knife or saw
- Installed with high-strength adhesive (no mortar needed).
- 3–5x faster installation vs. traditional stone.
- Easy to transport , cannot break during delivery
Traditional Stones
-
Requires skilled masons, mortar, and curing time
-
Requires special and expensive deliveries
-
Significant of stones are breaking during transportation
-
Weather & Chemical Resistance
STONIKO Stones
-
Waterproof (<0.5% absorption) – no frost damage.
- Chemical-resistant (acids, alkalis, salts).
Traditional Stones
- Porous stones (e.g., limestone) degrade with acid rain.
-
Thermal & Acoustic Insulation
STONIKO Stones -
Lower thermal conductivity (0.3–0.5 W/m·K) → better insulation.
- Sound absorption up to 25 dB (reduces noise).
-Traditional Stones
- Conducts heat/cold (poor insulation).
Applications
Interior Uses
- Walls & Partitions – Lightweight, flexible for curved designs.
- Kitchen Backsplashes – Easy to clean, heat-resistant.
Exterior Uses
- Facade Cladding – UV-stable, weatherproof.
- Balcony & Column Wrapping – Conforms to rounded shapes.
Specialty Applications
- Furniture & Countertops – Scratch-resistant surface.
- Retrofit Projects – Can be applied over old tiles/bricks
Sustainability & Cost Benefits
-
Carbon Footprint |
STONIKO - Lower (lightweight, less transport energy)
Traditional stones - High (quarrying, heavy transport)
-
Waste Generation
STONIKO - Minimal (pre-cut to size)
Traditional stones 10–20% waste during cutting
Installation Cost
STONIKO $15–30/m² (labor + material)
Traditional Stones $50–100/m² (labor-intensive)
